In that year his father, three of his brothers and seven other family members died because of Ebola, a terrible virus that often causes death. Ebola is very common in the tropical regions of sub Saharan Africa. Bakari also got the virus, but he survived thanks to the Save the Children staff that visited and cured him every day. He did not only receive medical cures, but also psychological help. They gave him pens, pencils, books and lunch money so that after some time he could go back to school.
